My Review Methodology

Transparency Behind Every Score

Want to See the Full Scoring Criteria?

For readers who enjoy digging into the details, I've made my scoring sheets available below. These are the same frameworks I use when evaluating CBD brands and products.

CBD is an unregulated industry, and that means anyone can slap a label on a bottle and call it quality. I built my review methodology because I got tired of vague reviews that didn’t actually help people make informed decisions.

Every brand and product reviewed on CBD Truth Finder is evaluated using a structured scoring system I’ve spent years developing and refining. I collect over 100 individual data points per review, and each one carries a maximum point value. Scores go up or down based on what the data actually shows, not opinion, not sponsored content, not guesswork.

The result is what I believe to be the most thorough and unbiased CBD review framework available.

How the Scoring Works

Reviews are organized into three scoring categories:

Trust and Transparency
This category evaluates the brand itself, including business practices, claims, certifications, customer service, and how openly they communicate with consumers.

Ingredients
This category evaluates the product’s ingredients formulation. Because oral and topical CBD products have meaningfully different ingredient considerations, I use separate scoring sheets for each.

Lab Testing
This category evaluates the quality and integrity of a brand’s third-party lab testing. For example, is there testing for all the major contaminants?
