Certified Medical CBD and THC Specialist

  • There are no brand partnerships and no outside influence behind my reviews. They’re based entirely on my own research, experience, and standards.

  • CBD has been a big part of my personal wellness routine for many years, helping me manage severe chronic pain, anxiety, and sleep issues. So when you read a review here, it’s coming from someone who has genuinely been in your shoes, searching for honest information and coming up empty.

  • There’s also formal training behind these reviews. The certification I hold as a Medical THC and CBD Specialist through the University of Colorado means you’re getting more than just opinions.

  • Everything here is backed by evidence, often in the form of screenshots, so you can see the information for yourself rather than simply taking my word for it. And when it comes to affiliate partnerships, the only brands you’ll see here are ones I’d genuinely recommend to my own friends and family. If something isn’t up to par, you’ll hear about it.

With so many CBD products on the market, it can be incredibly hard to figure out which ones are genuinely high-quality and which ones are mostly clever marketing. New brands are constantly popping up, labels can be confusing, and many reviews online barely scratch the surface, or they simply repeat marketing claims.

That’s exactly why I created my own completely custom scoring system.

For every review, I collect and organize a huge amount of data in detailed scoring spreadsheets covering things like ingredients, lab testing, transparency, product labeling, pricing, customer policies, educational content, and overall product quality. I also look closely at anything that feels potentially misleading, vague, or overly hyped because I believe reviews should be based on facts and evidence, not marketing hot air.

From there, each brand and product is carefully scored across key categories including Trust and Transparency, Ingredients, and Lab Testing. The goal is to create a more consistent and unbiased way to evaluate products while still keeping real-world usability and overall value in mind.

I also share the original scoring sheets used during the review process so you can see exactly how the scores were earned. If you’d like to take a closer look, you can jump directly to them below by clicking here.

Cornbread Hemp Overview

Cornbread Hemp is a Kentucky-based CBD brand founded in 2019 by Jim Higdon and Eric Zipperle. The company specializes in USDA-certified organic, full-spectrum hemp products and is best known for its Flower-Only™ extraction process. Rather than using the entire hemp plant, Cornbread Hemp extracts CBD exclusively from the flowers, which the company says results in a more concentrated extract.

The company sources all of its hemp from Kentucky farms and offers a product line that includes CBD oil drops, gummies, topicals, and pet products. Its oil drops, gummies, and topicals are USDA-certified organic.

  • CBD Product Line

  • USDA-Certified Organic Products

  • CBD Formulations

Cornbread Hemp products are full-spectrum.

Full-Spectrum

Full-spectrum CBD contains everything naturally found in the hemp plant, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and a tiny amount of THC (legally no more than 0.3%). Many people prefer full-spectrum because all those compounds work together, which is thought to make them more effective than any one of them on its own.

Broad-Spectrum

Broad-spectrum CBD is similar to full-spectrum, but with the THC removed. It’s typically marketed as THC-free, though there may be trace amounts present. It’s a great option if you want the benefits of multiple hemp compounds while keeping THC as low as possible.

Isolate

CBD isolate is pure CBD with nothing else included. All other plant compounds, including THC, have been removed. It’s the simplest option and a good choice if you want to avoid THC completely or if you’re sensitive to other cannabinoids.

My Verdict

Cornbread Hemp is one of my favorite CBD brands, and it’s one of only two that I personally recommend to my own friends and family. That’s not something I say lightly.

After spending countless hours reviewing CBD brands, Cornbread Hemp continues to impress me. Its transparency, USDA-certified organic ingredients, and thorough third-party lab testing are all top-notch, and I genuinely appreciate the company’s Flower-Only™ approach.

Is it perfect? No. I’ll point out a few minor things I’d like to see improved. But if you’re looking for a CBD brand that’s earned my trust, this is one of them.

More About Cornbread Hemp

Everything else you might want to know, all in one spot.

  • Reputation

From everything I’ve found, Cornbread Hemp has a clean track record. I didn’t come across any FDA warning letters or lawsuits, and that’s worth mentioning because not every CBD brand can say the same.

  • Pricing

Cornbread Hemp isn’t the cheapest CBD brand out there, and the higher price reflects things like USDA-certified organic hemp, the company’s Flower-Only™ extraction process, full-spectrum formulations, and thorough third-party lab testing.

Whether that’s worth paying for depends on your budget. Personally, I think the brand’s quality and transparency justify the higher price.

  • Shipping

All Cornbread Hemp orders ship fast, with free shipping on all orders over $45 and all subscription orders.

  • Return Policy

Cornbread Hemp offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, which I always like to see. If the product doesn’t work out for you, you can return it within 30 days. Just keep in mind there’s an $8 return shipping fee to cover the prepaid return label.

  • Subscription Program

If you use CBD on a regular basis, Cornbread Hemp’s subscription program is worth considering. At the time of this review, your first autoship order saves 35%, and every order after that receives 20% off plus free shipping.

I also like that you’re not locked into anything. You can pause, modify, or cancel your subscription at any time, making it a flexible option for long-term users.

  • Rewards Program
  • Cornbread Hemp has a tiered rewards program with three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. You start by earning 1 point for every dollar spent, with higher earning rates as you move up through the tiers.
  • If you think you’ll be ordering from Cornbread Hemp more than once, I’d recommend signing up. It doesn’t cost anything, and the rewards can add up over time.
  • Discounts
  • Cornbread Hemp runs promotions fairly often. At the time of this review, the company was offering 30% off.
  • There is a discount program for veterans, first responders, teachers, college students, people with disabilities, and low-income households.
  • My only complaint is that the company isn’t very transparent about those discounts. I had to contact customer service to learn that they range from 20% to 30% off one-time orders, depending on the program. I also wish the verification remained active instead of requiring you to go through the process with each order.

What’s Behind the Scores

Scores only tell part of the story. Here’s a closer look at what influenced each rating.

Bottom Line

After more than five years of reviewing CBD brands, Cornbread Hemp remains one of the most transparent companies I've come across. I did run into a little frustration trying to find the shipping information and discount details, but those were the exception rather than the rule. Overall, the company is refreshingly open about its products, practices, and lab testing.

Full Transparency

Throughout this review, you’ll notice links to dedicated pages on Cornbread Hemp’s website covering everything from farming practices to lab reports. That’s not by accident. The company clearly wants customers to have access to the full picture, and in my experience, brands that operate that way usually have nothing to hide.

Trustworthy

I’ve been following Cornbread Hemp for years and have never come across anything on its website that felt misleading or inconsistent. What the company says lines up with what it does, and that consistency builds trust.

Customer Reviews

Cornbread Hemp’s on-site product reviews are fully sortable by star rating, newest, oldest, and more. That’s a green flag for me. Brands that hide or filter negative reviews are usually easy to spot, and I didn’t see any signs of that here.

Return Policy

A money-back guarantee says a lot about how confident a company is in its products. Cornbread Hemp offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, which goes a long way toward building trust.

Customer Service

I reached out to Cornbread Hemp twice while putting this review together, and both times the responses were fast, friendly, and genuinely helpful. That might sound like a low bar, but anyone who’s dealt with poor customer service from a CBD company knows it isn’t. Good marks here.

Bottom Line

Cornbread Hemp sets a high bar when it comes to ingredients. Everything is USDA-certified organic, carefully sourced, and thoughtfully formulated. This is one of the cleanest product lines I've come across in more than five years of reviewing CBD brands.

USDA-Certified Organic

Cornbread Hemp’s oils are USDA-certified organic, meaning they meet rigorous standards for things like farming practices, pesticide use, and fertilizers. The company was also the first CBD brand in Kentucky to earn USDA organic certification for its oils, which speaks to how seriously it takes quality. You can view the certificate directly on the company’s website, along with additional information about its organic practices.

Flower-Only™ Extraction

Most hemp companies extract CBD from the entire hemp plant, including the stems, stalks, and leaves. Cornbread Hemp uses only the flower, where cannabinoids are naturally most concentrated. According to the company, this results in a cleaner, more concentrated extract without unnecessary plant material.

Extraction Process

Cornbread Hemp uses organic sugarcane ethanol to extract its CBD, which is one of the cleanest extraction methods available. The company says this also helps create a smoother flavor than some full-spectrum oils, and every batch is tested for residual solvents by an independent third-party laboratory before it’s released.

Whole Flower vs. Distilled Oil

If you’re looking at Cornbread Hemp’s oil drops, you’ll notice two options, and it’s worth understanding the difference.

  • The Whole Flower Oil goes through a single-pass distillation, preserving more of the naturally occurring cannabinoids. It’s darker in color, has a richer hemp flavor, and contains slightly more THC. Cornbread Hemp recommends it as its full-strength option, particularly for evening use.
  • The Distilled Oil goes through a second distillation, reducing cannabinoid levels slightly while producing a lighter color and milder flavor. It’s a good option for daytime use or for anyone who finds the earthy taste of hemp a little overwhelming.
Ingredients I Love... and Some I Don't
  • I personally recommend Cornbread Hemp’s oil drops, daytime gummies, topicals, and pet oils to friends and family. The ingredients are natural, high-quality, and USDA-certified organic, and I don’t have any concerns about that core product line.
  • That said, I’d skip the Mushroom Gummies, including the Sleep, Focus, and Relax varieties. They contain additional active ingredients that have the potential for side effects and, in my opinion, don’t yet have the depth of research I’d like to see before recommending them.
  • If you’re interested in those ingredients, I’d suggest buying them separately so you can control the dosage and better understand how each one affects you. When multiple active ingredients are combined into a single product, it becomes much harder to know what’s actually making the difference.
Bottom Line

Cornbread Hemp's lab testing is thorough, transparent, and easy to access. This is one of the strongest testing programs I've seen in the CBD industry. Two thumbs up from me!

Why Should I Care?

Because what’s on the label isn’t always what’s in the bottle.

The CBD industry is still loosely regulated, which means brands can make a lot of claims without much accountability. Lab testing is one of the only tools consumers have to verify that a product is actually safe, accurately labeled, and free of harmful contaminants.

Here’s what you’re actually protecting yourself from:

  • Mold and bacteria that can cause serious respiratory or digestive issues
  • Pesticides and herbicides that shouldn’t be anywhere near your body
  • Heavy metals like lead, arsenic, and mercury that accumulate over time
  • Inaccurate potency means you might be getting far less CBD than you paid for, or far more THC than you expected
  • Residual solvents left behind from careless extraction processes

These aren’t hypothetical risks. They’re documented problems that have shown up in real products on the market.

The bottom line: Before you put anything in or on your body, make sure the brand can prove what’s actually in it.

Independent Third-Party Testing

Every batch of Cornbread Hemp produced is tested by an independent third-party laboratory before it goes to market. What I really appreciate is that the company doesn’t hide its results behind a batch number portal where you have to jump through hoops just to find them. Instead, its entire library of lab reports, dating back to 2019, is publicly available on the website. That kind of transparency isn’t common, and it matters.

What They Test For

After following Cornbread Hemp’s testing practices for more than five years, I can confidently say the company doesn’t cut corners. Independent labs perform comprehensive testing on every batch and issue a Certificate of Analysis (COA) covering:

  • Cannabinoid Potency: Verifies levels of CBD, THC, CBG, CBN, and CBC to confirm label accuracy.
  • Pesticides: Screens for chemical residues.
  • Heavy Metals: Tests for arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury.
  • Microbial Contaminants: Checks for harmful bacteria and mold.
  • Residual Solvents: Confirms the extraction process is clean.
  • Mycotoxins: Tests for toxic mold byproducts.

To view the lab report for your specific product, simply scan the QR code on the packaging or enter the batch number from the bottom of the box on the company’s lab reports page.

Terpene Testing: A Nice Bonus

Terpenes are the natural compounds that give hemp its distinctive smell and flavor, but they do more than that. Research suggests they work alongside cannabinoids like CBD to influence how a product affects you, a concept known as the entourage effect. Different terpenes are associated with different effects, so knowing what’s in your product helps you make a more informed choice.

Not every brand tests for terpenes, so the fact that Cornbread Hemp does is a good sign that they’re going the extra mile for transparency.

FAQs

Still have questions? Here are answers to some of the most common ones about Cornbread Hemp.

If I had to sum up Cornbread Hemp in a few words, I'd say quality, transparency, and consistency. The company combines USDA-certified organic ingredients, a unique Flower-Only™ extraction process, and some of the most thorough lab testing I've seen, making it one of the strongest brands I've reviewed.

Yes. Every batch is tested by an independent third-party laboratory, and the results are easy to find on the company's website. The reports cover cannabinoid potency along with testing for pesticides, heavy metals, microbial contaminants, residual solvents, and mycotoxins, giving you a much clearer picture of what's actually in the product.

Cornbread Hemp specializes exclusively in full-spectrum CBD products. That means they contain a wide range of naturally occurring hemp compounds, including trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%), rather than just CBD on its own.

Probably not. Cornbread Hemp's products contain trace amounts of THC that remain below the legal limit of 0.3%, so most people won't experience an intoxicating effect. However, if you're sensitive to THC or subject to drug testing, keep in mind that THC can accumulate in your system over time.

Yes. Cornbread Hemp offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, so if the product doesn't work out for you, you can return it within 30 days of delivery. The only catch is an $8 return shipping fee for the prepaid return label. Overall, I think it's a fair return policy.

After reviewing a lot of CBD brands, Cornbread Hemp remains one of my favorites. The company consistently excels in transparency, organic ingredients, lab testing, and overall quality. While it isn't the lowest-priced brand, I think you're getting real value for your money rather than paying extra for clever marketing.

Before getting into the CBD industry, co-founder Jim Higdon wrote a book called The Cornbread Mafia. It tells the story of a large marijuana operation that took place in his hometown of Marion County, Kentucky, during the 1980s. When he later co-founded the company, he chose the name as a tribute to his Kentucky roots and the region's cannabis history.
