  • There are no brand partnerships and no outside influence behind my reviews. They’re based entirely on my own research, experience, and standards.

CBD has been a big part of my personal wellness routine for many years, helping me manage severe chronic pain, anxiety, and sleep issues. So when you read a review here, it’s coming from someone who has genuinely been in your shoes, searching for honest information and coming up empty.

On top of personal experience, there’s also formal training behind these reviews. The certification I hold as a Medical THC and CBD Specialist through the University of Colorado means you’re getting more than just opinions.

Everything here is backed by evidence, often in the form of screenshots, so you can see the information for yourself rather than simply taking my word for it. And when it comes to affiliate partnerships, the only brands you’ll see here are ones I’d genuinely recommend to my own friends and family. If something isn’t up to par, you’ll hear about it.

With so many CBD products on the market, it can be incredibly hard to figure out which ones are genuinely high-quality and which ones are mostly clever marketing. New brands are constantly popping up, labels can be confusing, and many reviews online barely scratch the surface, or they simply repeat marketing claims.

That’s exactly why I created my own completely custom scoring system.

For every review, I collect and organize a huge amount of data in detailed scoring spreadsheets covering things like ingredients, lab testing, transparency, product labeling, pricing, customer policies, educational content, and overall product quality. I also look closely at anything that feels potentially misleading, vague, or overly hyped because I believe reviews should be based on facts and evidence, not marketing hot air.

From there, each brand and product is carefully scored across key categories including Trust and Transparency, Ingredients, and Lab Testing. The goal is to create a more consistent and unbiased way to evaluate products while still keeping real-world usability and overall value in mind.

I also share the original scoring sheets used during the review process so you can see exactly how the scores were earned. If you’d like to take a closer look, you can jump directly to them below by clicking here.

Overview

Cornbread Hemp is a family-owned CBD brand founded in Louisville, Kentucky in 2018 by cousins Eric and Jim. Their Flower-Only™ approach sets them apart, extracting exclusively from the hemp flower rather than the whole plant. Add in USDA organic certification for their CBD oil drops, gummies, and topicals, and you've got a brand that takes quality seriously.

CBD Formulations

Formulations include: full-spectrum

Full-Spectrum

Full-spectrum CBD contains everything naturally found in the hemp plant, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and a tiny amount of THC (legally no more than 0.3%). Many people prefer full-spectrum because all those compounds work together, which is thought to make them more effective than any one of them on its own.

Broad-Spectrum

Broad-spectrum CBD is similar to full-spectrum, but with the THC removed. It’s typically marketed as THC-free, though there may be trace amounts present. It’s a great option if you want the benefits of multiple hemp compounds while keeping THC as low as possible.

Isolate

CBD isolate is pure CBD with nothing else included. All other plant compounds, including THC, have been removed. It’s the simplest option and a good choice if you want to keep things straightforward or if you’re sensitive to other cannabinoids.

The Actual Scoring Sheets

These are the original scoring sheets used during my review process. I created a custom evaluation system that analyzes hundreds of individual data points across ingredients, lab testing, transparency, and overall product quality.

Trust and Transparency Scoring Overview

Trust and Transparency scoring focuses on how clearly, honestly, and responsibly a company communicates with consumers. Companies are rewarded for transparency, accessible customer support, straightforward policies, meaningful educational content, and marketing practices that avoid misleading or potentially problematic claims.

Ingredients Overview

Ingredients scoring focuses on transparency, ingredient quality, the thoughtful use of natural ingredients, and minimizing unnecessary or potentially problematic ingredients.

Ingredients Validity Requirements

  • A complete ingredients list must be clearly provided either on the product page or visible on the product packaging.
  • Simply mentioning select ingredients or highlighting featured ingredients is not considered a valid full ingredients disclosure and will not receive points.

Lab Testing Scoring Overview

Lab Testing scoring focuses on how thoroughly, transparently, and reliably a company verifies the safety and contents of its products through third-party testing. Companies are rewarded for providing accessible, current, and verifiable lab reports with accurate cannabinoid analysis, meaningful contaminant testing, and clear product identification.

Lab Testing Validity Requirements

  • Testing must be performed by an outside and independent lab.
  • Results must be provided through the original lab reports.
  • Testing must be performed on the final product, with a lab-issued photo clearly showing the product that was tested.
  • Batch numbers, lot numbers, and product identification details should remain reasonably consistent across the product page, packaging, and lab reports.
  • Testing must not be older than 14 months.
  • The testing results must not appear to have been altered, selectively presented, or otherwise misleading.

How to Choose the Right Cornbread Hemp Product

The best option for you may depend on your wellness goals, lifestyle, and personal preferences. Some products are designed for convenience, while others may be better suited for relaxation, recovery, or targeted support.

Capsules

Best for: Simple daily routines and consistent dosing

CBD capsules contain CBD oil inside either a hardened capsule or soft outer shell. They provide a familiar, no-fuss option that’s easy to incorporate into a wellness routine.

Pros
  • Capsules provide accurate and consistent servings.
  • They’re tasteless and easy to take.
  • Capsules are portable and convenient for travel.
  • They’re usually less expensive than gummies.
Cons
  • Because capsules pass through the digestive system first, they often take 30–60 minutes (sometimes longer) to fully kick in.
  • Effects typically last around 5–7 hours.
  • Dosing is less flexible since each capsule contains a fixed amount.

Gummies and Edibles

Best for: Beginners, portability, and people who dislike the taste of CBD oil

CBD gummies and edibles include products like gummies, chocolates, drinks, mints, baked goods, and other infused foods or beverages.

Pros
  • They offer accurate and consistent servings.
  • Gummies and edibles are portable, discreet, and beginner-friendly.
  • Many people prefer them because they taste better than oils or tinctures.
  • Effects often last around 5–7 hours.
Cons
  • Because they must go through digestion first, gummies and edibles usually take 30–60 minutes (sometimes longer) to fully kick in.
  • They’re often more expensive than drops or capsules.
  • Some products may contain added sugars, artificial ingredients, or surprisingly low amounts of CBD.

Topicals (Creams, Balms, and Salves)

Best for: Targeted support and specific problem areas

Topical CBD products are applied directly to the skin and are commonly used for areas of tension, soreness, irritation, dryness, or discomfort.

Pros
  • Topicals allow you to apply CBD directly to specific areas of the body rather than taking it orally.
  • Products include creams, lotions, balms, and salves.
  • Many formulas include additional soothing ingredients like menthol, arnica, or essential oils.
  • They tend to work relatively quickly, often within just a few minutes, with fuller effects commonly developing within about 15 minutes.
Cons
  • Results can vary depending on the formula and amount of CBD used.
  • Balms and salves may feel heavier or greasier than creams.
  • Most topical CBD products are designed for localized use rather than whole-body effects.

My Mix-and-Match Approach

Figuring out what worked best for my own needs took time and a lot of experimenting, but it was absolutely worth it.

  • I’ve personally used CBD oil drops for years to help support my chronic pain and overall wellness because I like the dosing flexibility and relatively fast effects.
  • Capsules are my go-to when I’m away from home since they’re simple, portable, and mess-free. I learned pretty quickly not to throw oil drops into my bag unless I wanted a very oily surprise later.
  • Gummies are convenient and taste great, but they can definitely get expensive over time.
  • For me personally, topical CBD has been especially useful for breakthrough discomfort in areas like my neck and lower back because it allows for more targeted support.
